Step Three: Remove Ad-ware and Spy-ware

While there are many software applications for Ad-ware and Spy-ware removal, we recommend software from Lavasoft called Ad-aware. The software can be downloaded from the Lavasoft website or from Download.com.

Installation
NOTE: If you have already installed Ad-Aware 6, please skip to the section labeled Usage.

1. Double-Click the downloaded installer file.

2. In the "Welcome" screen, click Next.

3. In the "License Agreenment" screen, click Next.

4. In the "Destination Location" screen, click Next.

5. In the "Start Installation" screen, click Next.

6. Once installation has completed, click Finish.

Usage
1. On the desktop, double-click the shortcut named "Ad-aware 6.0".

2. In the Ad-Aware window, click "Check for updates now".

3. Click "Connect".

4. A new reference file may or may not be available. In either case, click "OK" and then click "Finish".

5. In the main window, click "Start" and in the Preparing System Scan window click "Next".

6. Ad-Aware will begin scanning your system. Wait for Ad-Aware to scan your system completely before proceeding.

7. When the scan is complete, press "Next".

8. If objects are not selected as in the screenshot below, right-click any of the boxes and click "Select all objects". Then click "Next".

9. Click "OK" to remove the objects.

NOTE: In some cases, Ad-Aware may state that a reboot is necessary to complete the removal process. Follow the prompts as indicated to finish the process.

10. Close Ad-Aware.
